Train firm wants cheapskate mate stories
23 Nov 2010
Have you got a cheapskate mate? One who is obsessed about saving the pennies no matter what? CrossCountry Trains wants to hear about them – and you could win prizes for telling all.
CrossCountry Trains has launched CheapskateMate , a dedicated Facebook page encouraging people to anonymously reveal their cheapskate mates, by writing in with a comical tale. Whether they scrape left over tomato ketchup from a dinner plate back into the bottle or wash their socks in the left over dish water, they want to hear. Up for grabs are a £200 Ticketmaster Giftcard, four first class tickets on a CrossCountry train and more.
Go to CheapskateMate on Facebook to submit your story and vote for your favourite tale. Every week a winning story will receive free train tickets from CrossCountry, the overall winner will go on to win a £200 Ticketmaster Giftcard and first class CrossCountry train tickets.
In addition to this fantastic competition, CrossCountry is offering students with an NUS Extra Card an additional 10 per cent off rail travel at www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/nus. CrossCountry is the only rail service offering this discount.
Stuart Henry from CrossCountry said: “CheapskateMate is designed for people to shop their mates who really do epitomise cheapskate, the cheaper the better! We’re thrilled to launch this competition offering free train tickets and the chance to win Ticketmaster Giftcard. It’s probably the only time your cheapskate mate could be worth a fortune!
“In addition to CheapskateMate we are proud to be the only rail service offering an additional discount of 10 percent on rail travel, as students flock home for some home comforts during term time.”
